Channels
The IM7 always measures voltage and current from the selected potentiostat as its primary channels. Additionally, you can configure synchronous and asynchronous channels for expanded measurement capabilities.
PAD4 channels are synchronous channels that are measured simultaneously with the voltage and current from the potentiostat. TEMP-U2 channels, for example, are asynchronous channels that are sampled in an interleaved pattern after the synchronous channels.
Further information about sampling rates can be found in the FAQ section: Sampling Rate vs Output Data Rate.
Synchronous - PAD4
Use the Synchronous Channels tab to enable or disable individual PAD4 channels by checking or unchecking the corresponding boxes.
When enabled, these channels actively acquire data during DC measurements in synchronization with the two primary voltage and current channels. This means these channels are sampled simultaneously with the two primary measurement channels.
During EIS measurements, these channels are also used to calculate additional impedances with either the main voltage or current channels, depending on the selected Impedance Role.
Advanced Mode and Impedance Role with Gain settings are not yet fully implemented in the current Zahner Lab version.
Asynchronous
These channels are used exclusively for DC measurements and do not participate in impedance calculations, but they are sampled at each frequency point during EIS measurements.
