Capturing Crash Data for Debugging
The following sections describe how to provide Zahner with the necessary information to identify and resolve the cause of a crash. Generally, this should be done after consulting with the Zahner support team, who will request these log files.
The log extraction process differs depending on your setup:
Controlling the IM7 via API: You only need to provide the IM7 logs
Controlling the IM7 via Zahner Lab: We need the logs from both the IM7 and Zahner Lab
Zahner Lab
To extract logs from Zahner Lab, navigate to View → Log… to open the Log Viewer. From there, you can export the log files by selecting File → Export logs….
IM7
The IM7 allows you to download debug information directly from the device’s web interface. To prevent data from being overwritten, you should do this immediately following a crash.
To retrieve this information, you need to access the device via its IP address and port in a web browser.
If you do not know the IP address and port, you can find them in the Zahner Lab Device Manager.
You can either enter the IP address and port directly into your browser’s address bar (e.g., http://10.20.40.50:1994/) or simply click the website icon within the Device Manager.
Once the web interface is open, click the Zahner logo three times to unlock the advanced features. A new menu item will then appear. Navigate to Tools → Advanced Diagnostics and click the Download Debug Info button to retrieve the necessary data.
The log file is downloaded through your web browser and saved to your default downloads folder.
